A photograph can never completely capture a moment. So you may ask: why am I a photographer? I use my camera to capture glimpses into my life and the life of others. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; which is a thousand words to help me remember that moment in time.
A bit about myself: my personality came out in high school. Without a care in the world, I gained an incredible amount of confidence in myself. This confidence would lead to independence. I was constantly on the move and I would carry a disposable film camera in my car just to take pictures of sunsets in passing.
In college I started to travel throughout the United States and I upgraded to a real camera. I was trying to capture the moment. Although this helped me develop as a photographer, as I look back and see my work was missing something. I was focusing so hard on trying to get the perfect photograph that I missed the moment. The images were missing my personality.
In graduate school I traveled for the first time outside of the country and my life changed forever. I suddenly had a desire to meet and experience as much as possible. I quickly learned that there are times to use a camera and then there are times to just enjoy the moment. My appreciation and respect for other cultures guided my photographic eye. My pictures finally became a window into the moment and told me why it was special.
Today in my professional life I am surrounded by people as an educator. However in my spare time I chose to surround myself with nature. Through a life of travel I have been fortunate enough to explore amazing places in the world. My pictures show the beauty of the world through my eyes.
As luck would have it, my work was recognized and I started to be commissioned as a professional in the past few years. It has taken years with a camera by my side to finally develop a website. I hope you enjoy what my eyes have seen.
